Avenged Sevenfold Surprise-Release Experimental 'STATICA' EP
The four-song release finds the band venturing even further into unpredictable territory.
Avenged Sevenfold have returned without warning, surprise-releasing a new four-track EP titled STATICA.
The band offered no advance announcement, promotional campaign, or lead single before the project appeared on streaming services July 24. Spanning just over 18 minutes, the EP contains four previously unreleased songs: "LIGHTS," "STATICA," "REJOICE" and "ASHES."
STATICA continues the experimental direction Avenged Sevenfold explored on 2016's The Stage and pushed further with 2023's Life Is But a Dream…. Robotic vocals, synthesizers, and electronic beats dominate the release, placing its sound far outside the straightforward heavy metal associated with much of the band's earlier catalog.
The EP is Avenged Sevenfold's first collection of new material since Life Is But a Dream… and follows the December 2025 single “Magic,” which was recorded in connection with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Its unexpected arrival also coincided with the beginning of Avenged Sevenfold's North American tour with Good Charlotte. The run launched July 25 in Ridgedale, Missouri, one day after the EP's release. The tour will visit Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas on August 21.
