Nightwish and vocalist Floor Jansen have officially parted ways after more than a decade together.

The announcement was made on October 15, with both sides describing the split as a mutual decision reached after careful consideration. No specific reason was disclosed beyond the need for Nightwish and Jansen to pursue their respective goals separately.

Nightwish confirmed that the band will continue and plans to enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album. The Finnish symphonic metal group has not yet revealed who will handle lead vocals on the record or whether a permanent replacement for Jansen has been selected.

Jansen called the departure "a hard decision," but said she believes a bright musical journey lies ahead. Her solo career will now receive her full attention, including the release of her second solo album, Hytress, on January 15, 2027, and its supporting tour.

Jansen initially joined Nightwish in 2012, stepping in during the band's Imaginaerum World Tour following the departure of Anette Olzon. She became a permanent member alongside Troy Donockley in 2013.

During her time with the group, Jansen appeared on three studio albums: Endless Forms Most Beautiful in 2015, Human. :II: Nature. in 2020, and Yesterwynde in 2024. Her powerful, versatile performances made her one of the defining voices of the band's modern era.

The separation arrives as Nightwish celebrates its 30th anniversary. Although the group has been on a touring hiatus since completing its most recent run of shows in 2023, its statement makes clear that the band intends to begin another chapter.
