**James Hetfield** made **Metallica's** intentions clear during the band's Saturday, Oct. 10, performance at the *Sphere* in Las Vegas: leave the outside world at the door and let the music take over.

Addressing the audience, **Hetfield** thanked fans for the time, travel, and money they had committed to attending the show. He then drew a distinction between **Metallica** and performers who use the concert stage to promote their views.

"**Metallica** is not here, like some other entertainers, to influence you with their bullshit," Hetfield told the crowd. "**Metallica's** agenda is love, energy, and heavy music, baby."

**Hetfield** did not identify any performer, political issue, or controversy as the target of his remarks. Although the statement quickly prompted speculation online.

Instead, **Hetfield** framed the concert as a temporary refuge from the conflicts and distractions beyond the venue — a place for the band and its audience to focus on the communal release of a **Metallica** show.

The performance was part of **Metallica's** ongoing *Life Burns Faster* residency at the *Sphere*, where the band is continuing their "No Repeat Weekend" format with different setlists across paired performances.
