KPOPWORLD Festival Postpones Alamodome Debut as Visa Delays Threaten Lineup
San Antonio's four-day K-pop spectacle will have to wait as international visa delays derail its October debut.
The inaugural KPOPWORLD Festival & Worldwide Dance Competition will no longer take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio this October.
Organizers confirmed Friday, Sept. 18, that the four-day event has been postponed until 2027 because of delays securing U.S. visas for some of its international performers. The festival was originally scheduled for Oct. 28 through Oct. 31.
According to a statement provided to MySA, organizers pursued expedited visa services but remained uncertain that the necessary approvals would arrive before the festival. Rather than move forward with a substantially reduced lineup, the team decided to postpone the event and allow additional time to deliver the experience originally promised to fans.
The lineup included Jay Park, The Rose, SB19, Jessi, DEAN & Tabber, CRAVITY, Xdinary Heroes, ARTMS, HEYOON, WONHO, and DAYOUNG.
KPOPWORLD was billed as the region's first global K-pop festival and worldwide dance competition. The first two days were expected to bring 32 dance teams representing 29 countries to the Alamodome, with concerts scheduled for Oct. 30 and Oct. 31. An international vendor village, merchandise vendors, interactive fan areas, and photo opportunities were also planned throughout the weekend.
The postponement comes weeks before the event and after some attendees had already made travel and hotel arrangements.
Ticketmaster will automatically issue refunds to the original ticket buyers and their original payment methods within 14 business days. Fans who purchased tickets through other sellers should contact the point of purchase directly for assistance.
Organizers apologized for the disruption and said they plan to bring KPOPWORLD Festival to San Antonio in 2027. Replacement dates and lineup information have not yet been announced.
