Rachel Chinouriri Announces New LP 'I Think I Spoke Too Soon'
After fighting to define her place in indie pop, Rachel Chinouriri turns inward on her second album.
Rachel Chinouriri has announced her sophomore album, I Think I Spoke Too Soon, arriving October 16 through Parlophone and Atlas Artists.
The 12-track record follows Chinouriri's acclaimed 2024 debut, What a Devastating Turn of Events, while pushing her alternative pop sound into brighter, synth-driven territory. She wrote and recorded the album across London, Hereford, and Los Angeles with longtime collaborators APOB, Mary Weitz, Glen Roberts, and Daniel Hylton-Nuamah, alongside new contributors including Lucy Dacus and Eli Teplin.
I Think I Spoke Too Soon frames several pivotal years of Chinouriri's life through the surreal lens of a single night out. The album examines sobriety, femininity, and identity as she considers the different versions of herself created by each decision and path she could take.
The title reflects the uncertainty Chinouriri experienced as she moved through her twenties and began questioning the person she once believed herself to be. While her debut explored how others perceived her, its follow-up turns that scrutiny inward and focuses on how she now sees herself.
Chinouriri introduced the album with "One Song Away from Crying," a shimmering synth-pop track about reaching the point during a night out when outward confidence gives way to an unresolved internal struggle. Its Dora Paphides-directed video follows the singer as she escapes a party and enters an eerie, dreamlike world through a bathroom mirror.
"My core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment," Chinouriri said. "And I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person."
