Slash and Guns N' Roses Eye 2027 Touring Break to Focus on New Music
The guitarist says Guns N' Roses will step away from touring next year, potentially giving the band time to organize its growing backlog of material.
Slash says Guns N' Roses will take 2027 off from touring, with the guitarist hoping the break will finally give the band an opportunity to focus on new music.
Speaking on the October 12 episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk," Slash explained that Guns N' Roses will complete its remaining 2026 concerts in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand before leaving the road next year.
"Next year, basically, Guns is off," Slash said. "We have so much material that needs to be organized before the band can begin working through its next creative phase."
According to Slash, writing individually while touring is not the problem. He, Axl Rose, and Duff McKagan regularly develop their own ideas on the road, but coordinating the entire band during an active tour has proven much more difficult.
"It doesn't work on the road," he explained, adding that getting the members together and maintaining the focus required to develop the material is "next to impossible" while touring.
The comments do not confirm that Guns N' Roses have scheduled recording sessions or established a release date for a new album. However, the planned touring break could provide the opening the band needs to begin turning its collection of ideas into finished songs.
Guns N' Roses have not released a full-length studio album since Chinese Democracy arrived in 2008. Since Slash and Duff McKagan reunited with Axl Rose in 2016, the band has issued the singles "Absurd," "Hard Skool," "Perhaps," "The General," "Atlas," and "Nothin'."
Slash will not be completely inactive in 2027. Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators will release Flying Blind on February 26 before launching an extensive international tour supporting the album.
