# Tony Iommi Announces First Solo Album in 21 Years, Shares Single 'World Alone'

**Tony Iommi** has announced *From the Dark*, his first solo album in 21 years.

The **Black Sabbath** guitarist will release the eight-track record October 23 through **BMG**, marking his first solo full-length since 2005's *Fused*. **Iommi** introduced the album with its first single, "World Alone," which premiered during a global streaming event in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

Powered by **Iommi's** signature down-tuned riffs and guitar solos, "World Alone" features **Jørn Lande** on vocals alongside bassist **Becky Baldwin** and drummer **Karl Brazil**. Its accompanying video places a character known as The Believer inside a dystopian video game where he must fight for his life and salvation.

**Lande** appears throughout *From the Dark* and shares writing credits on all eight songs. **Iommi** co-produced the album with longtime collaborator **Mike Exeter**, while **Queen** guitarist **Brian May** contributes a guest solo to "Death Wake."

"It's an album we've really enjoyed making," Iommi said. "We’re not trying to prove anything — it's a great album, it rocks!"

A limited-edition seven-inch pressing of "World Alone," backed by an instrumental version of the track, will arrive September 4\. Deluxe editions of *From the Dark* will also include **Iommi's** previously released instrumentals "Scent of Dark" and "Deified."
