Frank Carter Ejects Man From Sex Pistols Show Over Women-Only Mosh Pit Dispute
Frank Carter stopped the Sex Pistols' Denver show and had a man removed after he objected to space being cleared for a women-only mosh pit.
Frank Carter had a concertgoer ejected from the Sex Pistols' show in Denver after the man challenged the singer over a women-only mosh pit.
The confrontation took place Friday, Oct. 9, at the Ogden Theatre. Before launching into "No Feelings," Carter invited women in the audience to take over the pit — something the vocalist has regularly incorporated into his performances to give women space to participate without being crowded or intimidated by men.
Carter noticed a man remaining in the designated area and stopped the show. As the two exchanged words, the singer argued that women do not always feel safe entering regular mosh pits, where they can face unwanted contact, intimidation, or injury.
The situation escalated when the concertgoer shook his head and appeared to roll his eyes at Carter. The frontman responded by telling him to "just fucking leave" before calling for venue security to remove him.
Carter addressed the incident on social media the following day and made it clear that he was not reconsidering his decision. He said any man offended by space being created for women was "part of the problem" and clarified that the pit was intended as a space for people who might not ordinarily feel safe participating.
The singer later shared a message purportedly sent by the ejected man's father, who apologized for his son's behavior. The father said he had watched the show from the balcony and had not realized his son was the person involved until after the concert.
Carter has performed with original Sex Pistols members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock since 2024. The current North American run celebrates 50 years of the band's history and includes performances of material from Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols.
