Broken Mirror, Clear Vision: ARCHITECTS Dominate Concrete Street

English metalcore titans Architects brought their Broken Mirror tour to Corpus Christi's Concrete Street Amphitheater, delivering a set that cemented their status as one of the most inspirational metalcore bands of all time. The band's arrival was highly anticipated and the decision to bring along Holywatr was a welcome one.

Having just released their third album Deo Gratias, Holywatr stepped onto the stage ready to take the audience by storm just as they had once before back in December while supporting Chiodos. No stranger to Concrete Street, the band steadily built momentum, earning loud cheers and proving to be a fitting choice to kick off the show. As more concertgoers filled the venue, their unique blend of alternative metal, metalcore, and alternative rock successfully prepared fans for what was yet to come.

With the crowd warmed up, the South Texas crowd was eager to hear the newest Architects era live. Performing eight songs from their latest album, The Sky, The Earth & All Between, the set was firmly centered around their most recent material. While longtime favorites such as Doomsday, Gravedigger, and Impermanence drew some of the loudest reactions of the evening, the band showcased the confidence of a group fully invested in its latest chapter.

Frontman Sam Carter rarely stood still, moving constantly across the stage and feeding off the crowd's energy as several mosh pits formed. At one point, Carter polled the audience, asking the crowd if a wall of death was in the cards for the night. Between songs, Carter encouraged fans to split down the middle. On cue, both sides charged toward each other in a chaotic collision of bodies.

The brotherly spirit of the tour was on display when Holywatr's vocalist, Patrick, joined Architects during Brain Dead to add an extra layer of intensity to one of the night's heaviest tracks. The surprise appearance earned one of the loudest reactions of the evening.

Broken Mirror, the track that inspired the name of the tour, translated especially well live, balancing the band's modern arena-ready sound with the heaviness that's defined Architects throughout their career. By the time the band closed with Seeing Red and Animals, the crowd was still hungry for more and stuck around chanting for a second encore.

Architects remain at the forefront of modern metalcore, continuing to evolve while delivering the explosive live performances that have earned them a devoted following around the world, especially here in the Coastal Bend.
